Description

I have never been a fan of re-creations. I would rather have an unpublished piece or a sketch or a random page, because what I love about original art is that it is one of a kind. Creativity.Etc..  So recreations, not my bag man. Keen eyes however will note, that this one is not a direct recrcreation and it should be quite plain from the large scan shown here (sorry to all of you who had to suffer when my first draft post went live, unbeknownst to me.)

My second confession is that I have been a fan of Iron Fist since the 4th grade when I discovered his adventures with Power Man.

And since, I am confessing, let me say that Mike Zeck is one of my all time favorite artists.

Also wanted to give a big thanks to the guy who got me this and who provided the beautiful large scan and color scan - Yo Malvin!!

Oh and if you have been reading this far, thank you for visiting my gallery.

While I feel similarly about re-creations there's just about no exception I wouldn't make for a Mike Zeck piece. Spectacular!

Sweet recreation and subbing Iron Fist for Wolvie makes it more of a reimagination!

Did you run around the playground saying "light it up?" Teachers would come running thinking you were smoking only to find you all deep in thought shaking your fist. They would walk away shaking their head, "it's the Dan kid again."

Zeck is amazing and I hope Fist wins here. Or at least dents that shield.

(Lotsa Catholic guilt over this one it seems ;)

Sweet piece.  This image transports me back to 1975 and the cover to Iron Fist #12.  So really, your piece is that cover from a different angle.

This one is GREAT!

I had a couple great ideas for 'reimaginings' when Zeck was doing these, but I was new to collecting an I just assumed the opportunity would always be there.... sigh.

This is a crossover homage/recreation/what if that works oh so well. Zeck homerun! Congrats on adding this to your amazing collection!

Zeck's limitations for his recreations made them infinitely more collectible.  Once they are done, they are not to be recreated in the same way ever again.

Sweet Zeck reinterpretation / homage to one of his most iconic cover imaeges. The differences are obvious once you look at it, but even before doing so I notified you titled it "Captain American" instead of "Captain America" so whether that was a typo or a conscious decision (I will chose to think it was intentional) there was an immediate clue that there's something a bit different about this compared to the original. Congrats on the great Zeck!

Love this - and I agree on the cover recreation thing. But cover reimaginigs, especially when drawn by the artist who was responsible for the original cover in the first place? Way cool.

Gorgeous piece! I love recreations and homages to Captain America Annual 8! The fact you were able to pick one up by Zeck himself, with Cap in the image (so what if Wolverine is not there), and having Iron Fist in there is just awesome! Huge congrats and you know where to find me if you ever decide to part with it!

Absolutely amazing, the original felt like Zeck packed his whole career to that point into one image, so it’s no wonder how many have done homages, and then his own variations on a theme pack just as much power, congrats!

So basically, Cap was fighting Wolverine (which Mike Zeck drew as the cover we all know) and then Iron Fist came up and said "May I cut in?" And Wolverine said "Sure, bub, this place is deaaad anyway" (Swingers) -- so Iron Fist and Cap started fighting, which Mike also drew, and you grabbed that drawing for your amazing collection?  You lucky guy!  It looks incredible!!  So crisp and clean.  Thanks for sharing!

Fabulous Captain Amerca piece by Mike Zeck! What a clever switch in this homage to substitute Iron Fist for Wolverine! I think the piece stands on its own as a stunning Mike Zeck illustration! Congrats on a cool pick-up!

This is a GREAT recreation from an amazing artist with 2 great heroes and  a throwback to Iron Fist#12. Iron Fist is one of my all time favorite Marvel characters as well!
