Description

A beauty of an oil painting by the “Dean” of illustration art, Dean Cornwell. I haven’t yet found where this is from, but it is likely a prelim for one of Cornwell’s murals. That said, the art is nicely detailed, so it certainly presents well as a finished piece. Dean Cornwell is, of course, one of the big names in golden-age illustration. No need to go into detail about Cornwell here (there is plenty on the internet for that), but suffice it to say that Cornwell had an enormous influence on all things illustration - as an artist, teacher, and former president of the Society of Illustrators. 16” x 15”, oil on canvas, initialed by Cornwell.
