Description

As Part 2/2 commences of the "Adventure in Venezuela," Mister No and Uriaga have just survived two attackers while losing their two friends in the process. They have buried the friends and put the corpses of their foes into the Jeep:

“I understand how you feel. I too have had to leave several friends far from home, in the Pacific and elsewhere.”

“For me they were more than battle companions, Mister No. Chato was a faithful man. The only one I could ask to accompany me on this journey. I hope he is happy to stay here, among his mountains. While Suerte was truly like the son I never had. He had many flaws, of course. But I guarantee you that for him, honor and respect were not empty words.”

“I could understand why you would delay your departure to give a proper burial to your comrades. But I can't understand why the hell you made me load the corpses of the two bastards who tried to kill you!”

"You'll see the reason soon, gringo, when we have to abandon the Jeep to continue on foot to Pico dell' Aquila." (Eagles' Peak)

“Blood of Judas! I can imagine what would happen to them, and I tell you that I don't like mistreating corpses, even for two bastards like Paco and Zombi!”

Mister No is talking about the prospect of leaving corpses to be eaten by carrion birds. This turns out to be a bit of foreshadowing. He references his military service in the Pacific. When he first appeared in 1975, Mister No was a veteran of the United States military, having served in World War II. That would have made him about fifty years old at the time. By the time of this story twenty five years later, that military detail makes less sense for a hardy adventurer, so the specifics of his military service are now left vague, without denying the original backstory outright.
