DescriptionI've checked out this image a dozen times over the last year on CAF in my buddy Eric DLS's gallery. It had a for sale, and it kept calling to me, but my wallet resisted. Finally, the siren song won out!Just a gorgeous piece with the intimate embrace contrasting the Lovecraftian demonic background. Havok and Polaris are not the Marvel power couple that MJ and Pete, Scott and Jean, or Gambit and Rogue are, but they have a long and tangled history. *I just noticed after having this piece for a few months that Polaris is using her powers. Is it to keep the demons at bay for this moment or to call them forward? I was late to the party as far as appreciation for Steve's work. Unfortunately, he left so soon, but I'm honored to have a piece of his artistic legacy. Social/Sharing |

Nice add! Great job on all the details. When a piece of art calls out to you loud enough, you have to give in and bring it home.

Lightle was always in the running for best cover artist of the 1980's. His style was so unique and beautiful. This has to be a Holy Grail for lovers of this mutant power couple!

Alone at Last!!! Fantastic piece! I have always been very fond of these two getting together. They have a wonderful and sometimes sad history. Great to see a moment like this, even if it won't last. Congrats!

Wonderful piece! Love the contrast of the background image coupled with the passionate pose and embrace of Rogue and Gambit.

So you used to be a little out of shape and all you posted were double-page splashes. Now 40 push-ups and single pages. So if you keep this healthy lifestyle up I guess I can expect you to start posting strip art???

Dude, you were supposed to let me know when you got it. I know, I know. I had the tracking number too. LOL! Anyway, I'm gonna miss this one. But I've had it since 1994, so I guess it's time for someone else to enjoy it for the next 30 years. Love the work Steve put into his jacket and her hair. But my favorite thing about it is how he froze the moment right before their lips touch. Very happy it found a good home.

Superb. Lightle was such a great artist. That he chose the moment before they close the deal is both tender and sexy (despite the demons).

Such a beautiful piece of passion. Like the color, but even beter in black and white. Excellent piece for sure. I would love a classy romance piece like this one day and am a fan of the characters portrayed.
