Description

Eudardo Baretto, providing both pencils and inks, had big shoes to fill after Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez left this fondly-remembered sci-fi series that rose above its origins as a video console promotional. Yet fill them he did. On this page, Morphea discovers something unpleasant within Blackjak. Much of the impact of this page came from a red surprint originally dominating the central panel, showing the identity of Blackjak's unwelcome mental guest. Sadly, the art for that surprint has been separated from the Bristol page, and likely has been destroyed if it was on fragile vellum. Also, two of Morphea's word balloons are missing.

Very cool series as Atari was the biggest name in home video games and brought a piece of the future into many homes. Barreto's mind melding and melting artwork is fantastic to show the different techniques that were cutting edge at the time.
