DescriptionA corporate strike team prepares its assault on ecologically motivated saboteurs holed up in an apartment. Note the mix of “A” (Alfa Agency) and “PD” (Police Department) logos on their flak jackets. Nathan Never is on the team but mistrusts Frost, the trigger-happy team leader with the receding black hairline. Here's the dialogue from pages 50-59: (Caption) "400 miles south of East Coast City lies the city of New Alamo. Twenty million inhabitants inside dark buildings of concrete and iron under a black sky, thick with the exhaust fumes of its enormous factories." (I don’t own this page, so imagine the opening scene of Blade Runner.) (Branko ) “What a horrible place. How can one live in such a hell, I wonder?” (Nathan) “It's really terrible, true. What we need here is the urban renewal that was applied to East City.” “Yeah. According to the environmental analysis, there's really a lot of filth in the air.” “The health commission claims it's all just 'slightly' above the norm.” “If they say so. I say I don't want to stay here a second longer than we have to. Let's sort this out and weigh anchor.” (Frost sees Nathan and Branko approach.) “Here are our Alfa Agents. I hope you got the details from your boss this time about who's running the show here.” “You have a free hand, Frost, as long as you do everything 'by the book.'” “Sure, obviously. Have you been briefed on this operation?” “We've got everything. Environment maps, dispositions and details of the raid, except for one thing. Let's say… a curiosity. How did you get all the information this time? It's unusually detailed.” “That's none of your business. Let's just say I have my sources. Did you stop to think that maybe the saboteurs have a traitor inside? It happens, in criminal gangs. In any case, we've tracked them to their hideout here in New Alamo, and we're about to raid it. I don't see what’s so difficult.” “Okay, so what next?” “Let's get into position and then I'll explain. The saboteurs occupy an apartment on the third floor of the building in front of us, and they suspect nothing.” “Hm. Everything seems calm, actually.” “Are we sure they're all in there?” “We haven't had time to do a thorough investigation, but it looks like there are at least five of them now.” “This won't be an easy raid. Those guys will start shooting and could involve innocent residents.” “Do we have any other options?” “Let's lock down the building and try to negotiate.” “I don't think so! We're talking about some unscrupulous people! This is Chief One to all teams. Commence operation, repeat, commence operation!” “Row teams! Three minutes to target contact.” “Well, you can either stand by and watch, or do your part.” “I hope everything goes smoothly for you, Frost. Or I'll wipe that grin off your face!” “Team One confirms position near the building’s rear.” “Team Two confirms position inside the building. We’re going up the south stairs.” “Team Three. We’re in the lobby. Proceeding up the east stairs.” (Branko) “Can you hear them on the radio? Frost's men are really busy.” (Nathan) “They're moving well so far. This is the exit from the basement of the building. It's the only escape route they're not covering. We'll take care of it. Come on, let's take position. Ten seconds and we'll start.” (Inside the apartment) “I’m getting a beer. Anybody else want one?” “Sure, I’ll keep you company.” “Me too.” “Security! Nobody move!” “Stay where you are! Hands where I can see them!” (One suspect brandishes an automatic rifle and is shot repeatedly.) “Idiot!” ”Aaaah!” (Another suspect shoots back and shouts) "Damn you!" (She too gets filled with bullets.) “Aaaaghh!” On pages 60-65, Frost approaches a closed door in the basement to catch a perp. Frost shoots blindly through the door, killing its occupant... Engineer Max Powell, who was in charge of the dam at which Frost works. What was he doing here? On pages 66-69, citizens at the New Alamo city hall protest the water shortage. In a tense meeting inside, public officials grill Bacon about the failure of his company Iron Wave to provide the water supply he promised their city. Bonazzi's figures can be somewhat cartoony, but he really put in the time to make that cityscape shine on page 53, not to mention all the different poses on the attackers. Social/Sharing |

Urban warfare and quite the set up like setting up action figures with the 4 panels sized splash of the 6 panel grid.

This sort of reminds me of some 90s Punisher issues! Love that rooftop strike team 2/3 splash shot.
