DescriptionBonelli comics usually stick with three tier layouts with one or two panels per tier. This one goes far afield, with panels of varying heights, inset panels, and some nice perspective shots to make the immensity of the staircase dark clear. It's one of the best sequences in the story. “I can see something... it looks like... It looks like a staircase!” “Mghrr... Rghrr!” “Yes, Java. We'll give you a hand! Now it's time for the pickaxes! Devils of hell! A staircase that goes down into the heart of Mount Kehlstein! There's no end in sight.” “I bet it connects to the bunker network down in the valley.” “It's clear that whatever is down here, they wanted it to remain hidden.” “Maybe the Nazis didn't have time to blow up this tunnel before the Allies arrived. Like they did with other structures...” “Or they left it intact because they thought it would be enough to keep the secret.” “The secret, yes. I'm literally dying of curiosity... If it weren't for you, it would have remained hidden for who knows how long.” “And now we are about to find out, after so many years...” “I just hope it's not a Nazi secret weapon. That would be terribly banal, and I would be disappointed.” “Mgh!” Social/Sharing |

They just broke through a rock wall with their pick axes, but I think they should try to turn the handle first for this door.

Beautiful use of shadow to capture the atmosphere. Excellent page Robert. Congratulations on the addition and thanks for sharing it here on CAF!
