Description

To cheer up her son who is at odds with his wife, Empress Sissi recommends he seduce a sixteen year old:

“Stefania hates me. She despises me. And I can't blame her...”

“I told you, grab happiness when it comes. I heard you weren't at Mayerling with your hands in your pockets.”

“Um... I don't know what you're referring to.”

“Don't make fun of me, Rudolf. I have my sources. What about this woman?”

“Her name is Klara, but I lost her.”

“Your pain is mine, son, but turn your attention elsewhere. Klara is not the only one in the world. Do you see that young woman? It's Baroness Maria Vetsera. Maybe you remember her. You've met before.”

“I... no, I don't remember.”

“She told me about it. It happened right here in this palace, during a reception, ten years ago. You were twenty and she was still a child, but as soon as she saw you she literally lost her head for you. Since then, she has never forgotten you. She wanted desperately to know if you would be here tonight.”

“What do you expect me to do, mother?”

“I don't expect anything, my son. But I think you should at least go and say hello to her, don't you think?”

This part really happened. These royal families were both deeply unhappy and a cause of unhappiness to others.

Each page in this book was taped together from two other pages, usually with the top tier on its own small sheet. In this case, the top tier and second tier of page 39 were each left with a wide vertical margin for some reason, but they don't appear that way in the printed book.
