DescriptionThis one was more of an random impulse buy as I wasn't a reader of the original Axa strip, though I do know it stared Romero's titular warrior woman who liked to "free" herself at every opportunity. A mix of Red Sonja and Cavewoman's Meriem? This one has an interesting background, Axa was a reoccurring strip for the Sun in the United Kingdom. In the late 80's Eclipse Comics tried to bring the story to the US market in a traditional colored comic format written by Chuck Dixon. It only lasted two issues though, but still a cool image and tied to the story's history. The strip has been republished via Kickstarter and this cover was reused for issue #1 and again for the first trade paperback. Picked up from Chuck Dixon Social/Sharing |

This is fantastic, James. So good on so many dimensions - you don't need any deep familiarity with the character or her story to know this is just a really great cover!

Great job by Romero. The strip was pretty big in the UK. Great cover!

The cover to the first issue, how cool! I never bought the comic, but I do own a few great examples of the strip!

Well, I posted them so many years ago so I wasn't sure, but I'm glad to know you HAVE!

A cool looking cover with interesting publishing history/background and characters (that I am not personally familiar with, but the art looks great when coming across the work from the strip here on CAF!). Nice and unique addition to your collection, congrats!

Cool impulse cover buy, never a bad idea to add some variety to your original art collection. Cheers and happy holidays and a merry Christmas to you and your family.

Hmmm... the chassis looks fine but the exhaust smell is pretty rank. May need a tune-up.

It think it's great that the image has been heavily used. Maybe this time Axa will stick and you will have a very sought after piece of art on your hands. Really nice add!!!

That's an interesting back story to a fantastic cover. And dang, that warrior woman is so freakin' hot! But can I "axa" you a question? What's up with the contemplative robot? He doesn't quite fit with the vibe of the other two characters (I am curious, but mostly I just wanted to do the "axa" joke). Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This is such a great cover. It's does what a first cover should which is draw in the reader's eye and make you want to see what's inside. Nice pick up!
