DescriptionContinuing with more art from my Original Comic Art Unboxing with Ruben DaCollector.Flash #108 Dead Heat part 1. I never read the Barry Allen Flash with any regularity. Reading Wally West's adventures from the start as he took over the mantle of "the Flash" from his mentor was great fun. Wally West was my Flash. The book was one of my favorites from the beginning but writer Mark Waid took it up a notch. Waid took Wally from being a sidekick wearing his mentors costume to becoming the one and only "Flash", surpassing even Barry. Waid had an incredible run as writer of the Flash. He introduced Impulse, Max Mercury and the Speed Force. His stories included the Return of Barry Allen , Terminal Velocity, Dead Heat and Chain Lightning. Each story builds upon each other giving Wally greater confidence in his abilities and in his role as the Flash. An epic 6 part story, Dead Heat came on the tail of Terminal Velocity. Dead Heat introduced Savitar, disciple of the speed force who wants to drain the super-speed from all the other speedsters. Savitar has speed abilities even the Flash didn't have and proved to be the more powerful speedster. Dead Heat is one of my favorite Flash storylines. So many great moments within the story. In my opinion it elevated Wally to a whole new level as a hero and he was already great. I remember it well and will reread it from time to time. I thought my days of finding and affording a Flash cover were over. My thanks to fellow CAF member Socrates Bomfim for making this cover available and selling it to me. Greatly appreciate it. I'm going to have to disagree with you there. Sho Kosugi was the pinnacle of ninjas. 🥷

Well you are correct but Dudikoff is way funnier.

In the wake of issue 100, Oscar Jimenez took over the title and superhcharged the energy and direction to more dangerous territory.
