Just past the halfway point. Continuing to post more art from my Original Comic Art Unboxing with Ruben DaCollector.

The second Weird Western Tales cover I bought from Anthony. Great cover with Scalphunter on a horse jumping off a cliff. Assay! Assay!

Time to give props to Luis Dominguez. Everyone talks about Adams, Cardy and Kubert (and rightly so) when talking BA DC cover artists... but Luis deserves a place at the table. He's awesome, and he produced so many incredible covers. Luis Dominguez did covers for DC's horror and western comics. He worked on Ghosts, House of Secrets, House of Mystery, The Witching Hour, Weird War Tales, Weird Western Tales and Jonah Hex. His work is instantly recognizable, I'm a big fan as he did a lot of Jonah Hex and Scalphunter covers. He also did a lot of work for Gold Key.

Luis Dominguez, an enigma in the comic art world. A solid illustrator but not much known about him. He passed in 2020 at 96 years old.

I've included a short biography that appeared in Eerie #44 (Dec. 1972, Warren).

This is where DC had a leg up on Marvel! The westerns, horror, and love genres were dominated by DC that catered to a diverse audience. Solid illustration by Dominguez pushed further to define these genres, whereas Marvel made everything look like their superhero books.

This takes me back to the early 2000s, when you were regularly adding these covers to your collection! Thanks for adding a scan of that little article on Dominguez. He was already as good as many American newspaper strip artists when he was only 14 years old!
