I love Lee Gatlin's work. His knack for humor. The grittiness and graininess feels nostalgic to me. He does an excellent job of conveying motion. And he had done an excellent Rhino commission before (https://www.leegatlin.com/spiderman-rhino-commission-2024).

I was completely blown away by the completed piece. I love the unibrow and stoic expression. He perfectly captured the texture of his suit and the bricks. And I don't think that I've ever seen a better cinder block.

After showing Dustin Harbin this work (he had also done a Rhino for me and had posted with Lee on Instagram that someone was getting many Rhinos at HeroesCon), he promptly remarked "Wow, Lee did such a better job than me. I'm not fishing for complements. That's just true!" I think they both did great jobs...

Visit Lee Gatlin's Instagram for process (combination digital and traditional)! �The preliminary sketch was started in a notebook but finished in Procreate in the iPad. Final was on arches cold press watercolor paper with various pens, watecolor pencil, and an ink wash.�

Great storybook look! Bricks and cinderblocks show just how tough he is, even when missing leg days!

Lee Gatlin is on my list of folks to get a Stingray from, and this is a great example of why.
