Description

As Nathan and Xenia search for a way out of the underground Habitat which has been her lifelong home, they are attacked by Rogher, a dangerous criminal whom we haven't seen since Nathan's flyer crashed early in the story. Rogher has recovered the service weapon of a fallen flyer guard, and he quickly seizes Xenia as a hostage and leers at Nathan:

“When I crawled out of that pile of wreckage and the ground beneath me gave way to this damned place, I thought the same thing. I just needed a way to get back to the surface.”

“No!”

“Rogher, you…”

“Yeah, surprised to see me? You should know that weeds never die…”

“Let her go, damn you!”

“Not a chance. She's my ticket out of here. You, on the other hand… I don't need you anymore.”

“No, please… don't hurt him. In exchange, I'll show you how to get out of here.”

“Okay, why not? The idea of leaving a flat-footed cop to rot in a place like this amuses me. But don't you try to follow us, Never. Or I'll kill you right away. Move!”

Unfortunately there are eight pages here I don't own, and a lot happens. Rogher opens a door, spies someone inside, and fatally shoots an exact duplicate of Xenia. Nathan seizes upon the distraction and strikes, incapacitating Rogher.

Nathan and Xenia hide as a robot glides into the room and disposes of the corpse that looks like Xenia. The robot looks very similar to Xenia's own robot companion Harry, whom Nathan has disabled. Nathan comments:

“That's not Harry. I messed it up in a different way than this one.”

Nathan wouldn't normally be this easy to catch, but he's survived a plane crash and an assassination attempt by Harry and smoke inhalation and been up all night, so his weak state is understandable.

Even though it's not REALLY Harry (or Xenia for that matter) it still has me nostalgic for my knowledge of this story from 7 posts ago :)

Is Xenia a clone? Is Nathan a clone of the one that didn't survive the crash? Is this the comic version of The Island?
