Description

DeCarlo developed a teenage comic strip called Josie and drew up some samples to shop around.Unsuccessful, he then decided to try it out as a full comic book and presented the concept to Richard Goldwater, co-publisher of Archie Comics. Goldwater showed it to his father, Archie founder and co-publisher John Goldwater, and the concept was approved. Resulting in her debut in either She's Josie #1 or Archie's Pals n Gals #23 in 1962.
This strip has DeCarlo's and Richard Goldwater's home addresses, also the Archie Comics copyright stamp at the back.

Great good girl art by DeCarlo. Melody always turned heads no matter what she wore. Dan and Archie would go on to made beautiful comics for Josie and Pussycats!
