DescriptionG.I. Joe, A Real American Hero #28 cover from 1984 by Marvel Comics. This was about the 11th or so comic book I ever had, so this one kills it for me nostalgically. The first comic books I ever got were a 3-pack of G.I. Joe #21-23 from Toy's R Us. I asked my mom to let me have a subscription & she agreed (anything to get me to read more! lol.) Since #24 was already out, the first comics I got through the mail that first year were #25-36. Getting this cover was a personal GRAIL PIECE for me from my childhood. I couldn't be happier! :)In this issue, a Joe strike force begins to converge on Zartan's hideout in the Everglades as the Baroness goes to Springfield to speak with an imprisoned Bludd to arrange for an assassination. Destro & Firefly attack the Joes using the new tanksmasher jets (Rattler), but are repelled by the Joes in the W.H.A.L.E. and Dragonfly, as the Commander escapes their grasp yet again, with Firefly left behind to clean up the 'mess' at the hideout, as Zartan heads north with the Dreadnoks to locate the Pit. Can't beat great art with HIGH personal nostalgia factor! Great perspective with lends to some great movement and great depth. And I do love me some Zeck! Congrats on picking up the cover OA from one of your first comics!

Awesomely early Joe cover! Great action! Joe #23 wax my first comic I ever bought myself. Not only was this a great series but 1-50 art is nearly impossible to touch. Bravo!

Congrats on grabbing this one, West! The speed and movement on this is phenomenal. To create the illusion of that motion and speed with a still image is a truly special artistic accomplishment!

Love the Rattler perspective. Great to see this one, as it's a very memorable book from my childhood.

This was actually the first comic that came in my GI Joe subscription back in the day. What a great piece! Thank you for sharing.
