Description

I met Terry in the spring of 1999. He was a guest at the Motor City Comic Con. I was friends with one of the long time workers of the show, and was there as a volunteer. While the rest of the volunteers had specific shifts and tasks, I was given the opportunity to wander the show for free, and only work on special activities, like watching over Terry’s art and booth as he needed to step away. In return for this, Terry wrote my name and address right on the front of his working portfolio and sent me back a sketch (see post in this gallery) after my wife and I were pregnant with our first son. He had signed it "To Josh, Michelle, and Baby". Included in the envelope with these two photocopy pencil pages based on a conversation Terry and I had about me being a comic book hopeful and wondering if he had any pencil copies I could do some inking tryouts on. These were the pages he was working on at the show. I was lucky enough to get to see him working on them and then he sent me the copies. He signed the first one… “ Josh, Let me know how these turn out for you. – Terry.“
