Description

Jay Geldhof and John K Snyder III split penciling and inking duties in the original Eppy Grendel series and its been fun trying to collect pages from the run with their different art duties from the series. So, continuing my Brian and Eppy Grendel commission from each of the original artist was with John K Snyder III, which he was an absolute delight working with for this. Really enjoyed our email conversations about the characters and how much alike they really were. Also was delighted to hear his enthusiasm on tackling this commission and it shows! I couldn't be happier with his interpretation of the two characters and similarly with Jay's commission, John unprompted, also decided to keep it in the cemetery in the snow. The blues and purples in the sky background behind Brian is just absolutely perfect.

I was in conversations with Bernie Mireault to get a commission with his take on this subject, but unfortunately with his sad passing, this little project of mine has completed. Although I wasn't able to get the commission from Bernie, I am so glad that I was able to have email conversations with him about Brian, his time on Grendel, his take on his art and how he approached it. More importantly, I was able to tell him how much his art on these 3 issues stuck with me and how great it was.

Great full sized color piece of this texture paper medium and colored pencils to create something this sharp in contrasts which fits in with the themes of the original story.
