DescriptionMy introduction to Fungirl came from the free comic day issue that was released by Silver Sprocket in 2021. I learned later that there was some controversy to this issue and its content being for mature audiences but having the appearance of an all ages book. At the time, I had never heard of Fungirl or Elizabeth Pich, I only knew that I liked the cover and that Silver Sprocket released a collection of my favorite web comic of the early 2000’s, Nothing Nice To Say. I loved the FCBD issue, but I didn’t look any further into the series or the creator. Fast forward to the fall of 2022 and I was at the Short Run comic fest in Seattle and stumbled upon the Silver Sprocket booth which had a copy of the Fungirl book prominently displayed. Remembering the FCBD issue, I purchased it and the read the entire thing that night and loved it. The sense of humor, the art style, the homages to the likes of Charles Schulz, Salvador Dali, and Wayne’s World in the form of pinups throughout the book, all so well done. I wrote to Elizabeth shortly after reading it, asking about purchasing a page and was promptly shut down. Lucky for me, Sean at Athenaeum Comic Art worked his magic and convinced Elizabeth to sell some of her pages, allowing me to add Fungirl art to my collection.Social/Sharing |

It's more sophisticated than it looks as all the fundamental cartoon elements of a comic story are solid which allows the Fungirl to veer off into out of the norm situations and behavior!
