It was used in Wizard Magazine and also as the cover of an Alex Ross sketchbook.

An Alex Ross piece with just one dominant color, yet is it one of the most glorious pieces showing off the League in the way only Alex Ross can.

This image is based on a series of character portraits that Ross rendered from his custom photo-references, as part of the "Secret Origins" project. The figures have appeared in numerous configurations over the years, from stand-alone portraits of each hero to composite team shots. Back in 2002 Ross sold giclee prints featuring a digitally composited shot of the whole Justice League. I've had the print hanging on my wall since then.

The figures in the current CAF image are chest-up versions of the same poses found on the previous Secret Origins character shots, now rendered in green, with more dramatic lighting. Why waste a good photo reference?
