Description

I met one of my comic book heroes, when I was a wee lad of 13, at the Detroit Triple Fan Fair. It was back in 1972, around the time comic artist and historian Jim Steranko, released the "History of Comics," along with a calendar set of images from the books.

This is one of the pages from the calendar, featuring the cover art to Boy Commandos #1 (1973) by the legendary comics team of Simon & Kirby. Mr. Steranko pasted the sheet to an art-board and hand-colored it.

I can still recall the thrill of him signing and personalizing it to "My Pal."

Looks a lot better than the original with Steranko giving the Boy Commandos each having their individual colors.

Well, if you can't have the original, then having an icon add color to an iconic cover is the next best thing! Congrats on having such a cool item in your collection!
