Description

The 1992 Marvel Masterpieces trading cards were my gateway into superheroes, comic books, and the collecting hobby in general. Artist Joe Jusko did initial preliminary drawings of all 100 characters in this set. But he only made 27 of these 2nd round and more detailed sketches he calls "final transfer sheets". The reason being he didn't want to keep getting edits and suggested changes from Marvel editorial, like having to make Spidey face the viewer in the final painting. This is approximately 5x7 in size and penciled on tracing paper.

Very cool as Venom's popularity was rising as aggressively as his depictions. Having him shown in fully painted glory by Jusko was going to make him the new hit character of the 90's.
