DescriptionI found Nick's work around 2010 and was very impressed. I thought he was so good in the Struzan style that he would be Drew's successor. However, I felt no sense of urgency to pick up a piece. I thought there was plenty of time. Off and on I half heartedly pursued a commission and considered pieces for sale, but prioritized my budget in other ways. I made one last play for a commission in 14' when I knew I was getting out of the hobby. It was too late, Nick had decided to transition into fine art.A lot of collectors new to the hobby since 15' haven't even heard of him, but there is a core group of fans. Coming back into the hobby last year I've been chasing down some "unfinished business". I reached out to the owners of a few Runge pieces and got a hit. Thanks a lot Dean. I'm glad I could help in some small way on your Cerebus journey and you could help me settle some unfinished business with my collection. At 23"x35" it's a big stunner in person. Originally done for an art exhibit with Hero Complex Gallery that produced a Limited Edition 250 giclée prints. Social/Sharing |

Still one of my favorite sci-fi movies ever. Incredible work by Runge!

Congrats on finally getting a Runge masterpiece of your own. He did some great film pieces and this one is fantastic! A legendary film choice, to which I always hear "I can't let you do that, Dave" lol. Congrats on this one, bro!

I spent most of my life deadpan voicing "What are you doing Dave?" to my friends named Dave, lol.

I used to follow Nick on Facebook years ago, where I initially discovereed him and his work, and was blown away by how good he was and how young he still was. I was shocking to me to see him announce that the fine arts were calling to him and that he no longer had any interest in being an illustrator. But what he produced while active in the illustration worls was astonishingly high level work, this being a perfect example of that!

I was down right sad when he left, and secretly hope he'll come back. Yes, I respect him following what makes him happy, but the illustration world is an emptier place without him.

Wonderfully composed movie poster style of the 70's with the thin line border. The swirls of the varnish provide an added layer of gloss and energy to all the lighting reflections that pop.
