Description

Lou Erickson was a cartoonist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for a long time, and while he definitely had opinions, it’s hard to stick a clear political label on him. He was more about being clever and funny than pushing a strict liberal or conservative agenda.

He often made fun of politicians from both parties, depending on the issue. Since he worked in Georgia during a time of big political changes, some of his stuff had a Southern, moderate-conservative flavor, but he didn’t really come off as hardcore one way or the other.

Basically, he seemed to lean more independent or middle-of-the-road, using his cartoons to call out nonsense wherever he saw it—no matter who was in charge.

I like the caricture style. A little bit of another Southern gentelman artist in Jack Davis with the lanky figures and long feet.

Yep... same with the long fingers... In the Man With a Golden Arm doodles you can see him practicing drawing the hand with some motion. I see it in some of his other illustrations.
