Description

"The Course of Justice" by H. K. Bulmer.

An Army investigator goes undercover in a Special Reconnaissance Service unit deployed to North Africa to identify the soldiers who stole an army payroll and killed the guards.

Biffignandi kept the upper left open for the story title. Fleetway's logo in the published cover, however, covers a small part of the second jeep.

The 10x14 gouache painting is on 12.5x17.5 drawing board.

Postscript: Miki and Ruben's comments point out that Biffignandi is an Italian artist primarily known for his covers of Italian erotic pocket books. In the war genre, he supplied cover art to British war pocket libraries published by Fleetway in the 1960s such as War Picture Library and Battle Picture Library.

congrats on the nice cover painting Peter! The North African setting with the desert sand dunes and the perspective (from up close firing at enemies behind, to up ahead, to off in the distance) between the 3 military off road jeeps give a foreboading sense of the adventure ahead for the reconnaissance team.

A very nice War painting! I once dabbled in some Biffignandi paintings, but always in the realm of nude breasts and the like. I figured I'd leave the War art where it was until YOU discovered it!

Nice pick up. Biffignandi is a well respected painter althoh he is mostly known for his lush cover paintings for the Italian horror and erotic comics.
