DescriptionOne of the most iconic Star Wars covers ever! Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia Organa are all featured on this cover for the fourth part of the six-issue adaption of George Lucas' original Star Wars movie. It has been in safe storage for nearly 40 years and never been offered on the market before!Mr. Hoberg confirmed the Giacoia inking attribution and was kind enough to explain the lack of lettering: "There is no lettering on it, as I had drawn it in my own two-ply Bristol at a size slightly larger than the standard Marvel stock. Roy [Thomas] needed more room at the top for the logo, etc. So the final cover was done using a stat, which had the background extended up from the starfield." Thus, the original art does not have the blurb "At Last! The Battle with Darth Vader to the Death!" nor Ben's word balloon "No, Luke!" or Luke's word balloon (which perhaps was intended to be Ben's) "Here I stand -- though I may die!" Social/Sharing |
