Description

The rejected/unpublished cover to All-Star Western #11 by Tony DeZuniga who did draw the published cover also. I had bought the original cover to both #10 & 11 along with a dozen others back in 2004 and recall Tony mentioning that he had thumbnail sketches of both issues and a rejected cover in his files somewhere. I eventually bought the Thumbnail drawings to All-Star Western #10 but he couldn't find the ones for issue #11. His widow did approach me when she found the thumbnails to issue #11 but I wasn't quick enough to buy them and she sold them to another collector. I was told by Romeo Tanghal that Tony had given this rejected cover to him at a convention they both attended. I'll post the image to the original cover art to issue #11 that was published although I do not own it (sold of years ago as well as the cover to #10). This unpublished cover is on old comicbook yellowing paper stock with the edges trimmed probably to remove from the cover layout that he thought he could re-use. He had tried similar tricks with the All-Star Western covers he did before Jonah Hex.....as I owned them all at one time. This was the first real cover appearance of Jonah Hex where you can see his face. Very very happy to have this.

What a cool cover. Should have been published and the fact that it was an early iteration of Jonah Hex on a cover is that much cooler. I have a friend that is a big Jonah Hex fan and will love to see this. Also love how the Horse is posed with the birds flying in. Great piece.
