Original films of Maison Ikkoku by Rumiko Takahashi Maison, with original lettering inked on film, it was published by the historic Granata Press, the first to print manga in Italy translated into Italian in the early 1990s.

The printing process involved several steps: the blueprint on thick, matte, glossy photographic paper, on which the onomatopoeia�words that attempt to imitate or represent sounds, noises, or explosions in comics�such as Boom!, Wow!, Tiktak, Aarrghhh!�were hand-drawn using white-out, a brush, and a marker. These words, which could not be understood in Japanese, took on a more complex graphic character than simple lettering and were therefore painted first on the blueprints. The original lettering, as in this case, was done by hand directly on the final printing film, to which the printing instructions for the final framing of the page were also added. Hand-lettering such a large volume of manga comics was a herculean task.

Pellicole originali di Maison Ikkoku di Rumiko Takahashi Maison, con lettering originale fatto a mano a china sulla pellicola stessa, pubblicate dallo storico editore Granata Press che fu il primo a stampare i Manga in Italia tradotti in italiano nei primi anni 90.

Nel processo di stampa avvenivano vari passaggi, la cianografia su carta fotografica spessa opaca e patinata, su cui si modificavano a mano con bianchetto e pennello e pennarello le onomatopee cioe' le parole che cercano di imitare o rappresentare suoni, rumori o esplosioni dentro ai fumetti � tipo Boom!, Wow!, Tiktak, Aarrghhh! che in giapponese non potevano essere comprese ma assumendo un carattere grafico piu' complesso del semplice lettering andavano dipinte prima sulle cyanografie, mentre il lettering originale come in questo caso era fatto a mano direttamente sulla pellicola di stampa finale, alla quale venivano aggiunte anche le indicazioni di stampa per l'inquadratura finale della pagina. Fare il lettering a mano su una tale quantita' di fumetti manga, era un lavoro titanico.
