Description

This was done as a portfolio piece that was shown to Roy Thomas when Jim Starlin was trying to land a job at Marvel Comics. It's the second drawing done of Thanos but first in color. It's also the first ever drawing of Eros (Starfox), Mentor, Chronos and Drax the Destroyer which was based on the fanzine character Dr. Weird. I revealed this large 13" x 22" original drawing during Ruben DACollectors Youtube show 2 weeks ago and will be doing a video on it in a few weeks with Jim Starlin when he comes into town.

Amazing page, Shaun! Love Drax's face, very close to how Starlin would draw him in those early Captain Marvels. And I'm as green with envy.

This drawing makes me wonder if he planned to do the whole first Thanos saga in Iron Man, especially considering how big a role the Controller had in the early issues. I'm sure it would have been great (he was on creative fire), but very different without Cap. Would Tony Stark have gotten cosmic awareness? :)
