Description

A sketch of E.T. waving hand-drawn by Carlo Rambaldi. Legendary makeup and special effects artist Rambaldi won three Academy Awards®, including one for his design of the mechanical xenomorph head in Ridley Scott's Alien and another for his creation of the titular alien botanist of Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. In 2017, he was inducted into the Visual Effects Society Hall of Fame.

After a massively successful theatrical run, E.T. went on to become the highest-grossing motion picture of all time in 1983 and to sell more than 15 million E.T. dolls in its first year of release. Inspiring more than $1 billion in merchandising sales, the character is today known worldwide as one of the most beloved in all of science-fiction cinema, and is widely considered Rambaldi's signature creation.

Created in 1990 as a personal gift, this sketch is rendered, inscribed "To Brian," dated "90," and signed in the bottom right corner by Rambaldi in colored pencil on paper. The top and right edges of the paper exhibit liquid damage and residue. Dimensions: 8" x 10" (20.5 cm x 25.5 cm)
