Description

Back at the height of Turtlemania in the late 80's and early 90's, Ralston-Purina released a TMNT-branded breakfast cereal that would include mini-comics featuring original stories in the TMNT Universe based loosely on the TMNT Adventure Universe. Issue #3 was notable because it was the first appearance of Man-Ray (aka Ray Fillet) in comics.

Peter Laird confirmed via his blog that he was originally supposed to do the roughs for these but he somehow got roped into doing the finished pencils as well. Ryan Brown did the inks and Steve Lavigne provided the finished colors. I've included a screenshot of his blog post from 2009 stating this as well as a picture of the rough thumbnail featuring these exact panels of the story.

These 4 panels have a good mix of TMNT characters among them. Raphael, Casey Jones, Man-Ray in his first comic appearance, Shredder, and Shredder's giant Mouser robot is crashing through a building.

A great piece of the puzzle that's part of what made Turtlemania such a hit as they were everywhere in a kid's life! Very nice with the Laird published line art.
