DescriptionVideo of the sketch: http://youtu.be/LO-twbuRSUEWhen I got the idea to create a YouTube channel dedicated to comic book artists I sought out the soonest and closest show to gather footage. It was Amazing Arizona Comic Con! I bought VIP tickets for the "Jim Lee Experience", booked a room, and everything was set. The morning before the show I broke out with an allergic reaction but it was nothing some Benadryl couldn't clear up. Next thing you know a huge storm showed up and the wind was so heavy that it blew the raindrops sideways. Let's call it a "wild storm". I took these things as a sign to stay home but my wife insisted that we go since we already paid for everything. That storm seemed like it followed us all the way from San Diego to Phoenix. Heck of a car ride but we eventually made it to our hotel safe and sound. The following morning I lined up early for the VIP event and the convention organizer told us that he wasn't sure if or when Jim would make it because that same storm was still brewing and it delayed all of the flights in the area. I looked at my wife and gave her the old "see... I told you so" look. We waited and kept getting updates about when Jim would show. Eventually Jim did show and everyone in the room was so excited. I don't know if he felt bad about the delay or what but he announced that he'd do a sketch for anyone who was willing to wait. This was it! My chance to get the perfect footage for my channel!! I nervously asked if I could film and he just casually said "sure." Just an ordinary moment for him but such a huge life changing one for me. This Psylocke sketch is what I came away with from that moment and it will never be topped by anything else in my collection. No matter what type of mood I'm in I can just take a look at it and be reminded to never stop believing. That storm turned out to be the perfect storm. Everything lined up exactly the way it was always meant to and my wife eventually got to look back at me and give me the "see... I told you" look back at me. Social/Sharing |
