DescriptionCLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!Widely considered one of the best animes of all time, Cowboy Bebop was created/animated by renowned animation studio Sunrise (responsible for the Gundam anime series, Armored Troopers Votoms, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers and adaptations of Crest Of The Stars, Dirty Pair, City Hunter, Inuyasha and many others), led by the production team of director Shinichiro Watanabe, screenwriter Keiko Nobumoto, character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, mechanical designer Kimitoshi Yamane and composer Yoko Kanno (collectively billed as Hajime Yatate). The neo-noir space Western series ran for 26 episodes, airing from 1998 to 1999 and followed a bounty-hunting crew aboard the Bebop spaceship. A critical success both in Japanese and international markets, Cowboy Bebop is often called a gateway series, helping to introduce anime to a new generation of Western viewers in the early 2000s. Offered here is 9x10.5" 12 field cel w/hand-painted image area measuring 8.25x9.75", showing main character Spike Spiegel as he appeared in the final episode (aka "Session") of the series, The Real Folk Blues: Part 2, which saw a wounded Spike confronted by armed members of the Red Dragon Syndicate after his final battle with Vicious, just before he points his finger at them and utters the series' final line - "Bang" - before collapsing. The cel offered here bears "A20" notation at upper right and is from this climatic end sequence, just frames before Spike extends his finger. A much-discussed scene, it is a truly unforgettable moment filled with pop culture allure, this production used cel presents a rare opportunity to obtain a piece of animation history from one of the most widely regarded animes of all time. Cel comes with laserjet printed background (generic in nature and not scene accurate, but still complimentary in nature) and has been mounted in place with small squares of white tape at corners. While 11x14.5" background shows some handling wear at corners, cel itself exhibits no flaws and paint is complete with no flakes of cracks. Could be matted and framed for a NM display and would easily become the centerpiece of any anime fan's collection. Social/Sharing |
