DescriptionOften replicated, never bettered. If you're like me, then this page is already etched in your memory. I see this as a companion piece to the ASM #120 page in the Kane gallery. I hope everyone enjoys this iconic page. Social/Sharing |

This one took years to acquire and a bunch of treasure. Sometimes a piece becomes available for just a moment and it's important to take that opportunity. I also consider it a true grail.

So great! Romita was still somewhat emulating the Ditko style for continuity in these early issues when he took over, but you can see from the top panel and the close up that things were now more bold and action oriented.

The final panel is a swipe from ASM #14 pg.22 and #17 pg.2. The door was used by Ditko to obscure the Goblins identity, so it seems fitting that it would be used by Romita to depict the creation of the iconic mask. Thanks for all the work you put into your comments, they really help collectors feel proud of their pages.

Iconic! A brilliant first panel - and of course the last one. Nice to see the margin notes. If I may be so bold, this page really deserved a high quality scan to show it in all its glory. Massive congrats on this epic page!

It really does deserve a better scan, but it rarely ventures out of it's home. The first panel is really striking and makes the whole page pop. Villain origins (especially when they are lurking in their secret lair) really fascinated me as a child. This page is particularly special, in that the Goblin had been shrouded in shadow for so many issues as he plotted in his hideout.
