Very cool! And by the way, can you post in your description exactly what methods worked in flattening it out so well? It really worked well, whatever did it!

april fools in december? whaddya sick or something?!? so much going on here! great take on the behind the scenes aspiration of peter (parker, that is)...are those wool socks over argyles? where are his spidey-pants? why are his pants off? what was he going to do with that gun? so many unanswered questions!

Good Grief! It looks more like they folded it and put it in their back pocket! Great job on the flattening. Now this, is a fun piece and besides, that KIrby guy was way to serious anyways....:) Nice one Len

Great cover. I too would like to know how exactly you flattened this so successfully. I have a page (oddly enough a Spidey page) that is in major need of flattening - though it has some moisture damage too, and is considerably warped. Can you please let us know?

HOW I FLATTENED SPIDER-MAN:

I started out on a flat Formica counter top. I laid down a sheet of heavy white linen. I laid the art face down. I laid another piece of linen on top of that. Then I started w/ a medium hot iron and began ironing. I began using a little steam - not so much that it got WET but enough to keep it moist. I increased the heat and steam just slightly as I went being careful not to get the art too moist or hot but it seemed like it HAD to have SOME moisture to work. I patiently went at it for about a half hour lifting the linen and looking at the art to find the worst areas then covering it back up and concentrating on those areas. When I got worried that art was getting too moist I pulled it out slipped between two sheets of paper then between two sheet of 18 x 24 aluminum (in my biz I always have these around) then stacked on 4 60 lb. sacks of concrete and left it there for 4 DAYS. I repeated this process 3 times until I was satisfied w/ the "flatness".

I guess that's true but to be fair he DID send it in the same package he got it in. After the damage He offered to give me more art free or to return my $. He was quite gracious but, yeah, a couple more sheets of cardbord woulda helped :)

Holy monkey crap, Len! You said you were going after something "crazy" but you didn't say it was crazy COOL! I still remember this book in PREVIEWS and was never able to pick it up. As a huge Bagge fan, I certainly appreciate your desire and passion for this. So happy you made what could have been tragedy into triumph--your flattening efforts were fantastic! Mega megalonmaniacal congrats!

Nothing infuriates me more than receiving original comic art destroyed due to poor packaging. I, myself. have dealt with this same problem several times in the past. I'm at least pleased to see that your story had a happy ending. God Bless. p.s. Oh yes, really cool piece of art. Offbeat and unique. Thanks for sharing.

Ouch! Looking at this bent art hurts. I’m happy that it’s flattened out. I’ve been looking for this cover, not sure how I missed it on CAF. Congrats on recovering it!
