Description

This was a commission that was over a year in the making. Every time I got close to sending Bob an email something would pop-up, home repair, new tires, you name it. I can't tell you how many times the project was aborted on my end.
Finally my girlfriend offered to give me a commission as a birthday present. I agreed on the condition that it would only be something that would be framed like her Christmas 2005 commission. That made it a no brainier I was going to get a Layton for my birthday.
I had long know that I wanted Bob to mix it up as he does with other commissions since he is terrific about cover reinterpretations.
Since Iron man had tangled with the Crimson Dynamo, having Bob do an Iron Man-Dynamo commission seemed a natural. I admired the unpublished cover commission Bob had done of two Iron Men in space battling while Dr Doom loomed over them. So I suggested replacing Doom with the Iron Maiden.
I gave Amy some paste ups of what I was thinking about using the aforementioned cover and a THUNDER Agents cover as suggestions and let her forward them to Bob.
As you can see magic happened.

Layton does it again...a great piece and love the Iron Maiden...great choices of character and layout...

A great Layton. Plus, for me, any time Bob draws/inks machinery it is awesome to observe.
