you know when you brought the original to NYC, it was obvious you had taken a large artistic step forward with this painting, much like the Tarzan & lion piece.Great stuff and thanks for posting it.

Thanks, Mike! It always works like that, as I'm sure you know! You suddenly produce a piece that jumps you to the next plateau. You just keep hoping those pieces don't come TOO far apart! LOL

Awesome! It's as if you had caught that Hammer films way of lighting creepy scenery... Not only do you serve the Vampirella myth with respect but you also refer to those who knew how to deal with horror gimmicks, both in comics and movies of the 60's 70's. A real "tour de force"! One of your best art indeed...

Hi Joe! Just saw the comment you posted on Dave Johnson's Mignola piece and I must say that I echo those very sentiments for THIS piece! Thanks so much for sharing! Wow!

Gorgeous, Joe! The tree seems so alive for something so gnarled and dead! I love how the dark branches rise out of the ground against a brighter, raging sky! It's all the little things that add up to a masterpiece!!!

I really love Vampirella's pose and the mood of the painting!

i have to agree with Bair, clearly this piece opened a new chapter in your art. yet again a triangular composistion works to perfection! your knowledge of color theory has been an inspiration to my work for years.

Something like this at the Graphic Novel Art show would really be the centerpiece ;)
