A very impressive Venom by Joe Vriens whose original art is much too scarce.

I bought this from Joe when he put it on ebay. It was not a commission per se but the character obviously was perfect for me.

The art is 11 by 17 but it takes all of the page giving an impression of oversize.

What to say about the art itself? Joe's interpretation looks like it's out of a Capcom VS Marvel video game and rightly so as Joe has worked for Udon mostly and he comes from the Capcom school in terms of influences. I love his Venom. Massive, monstruous, full of teeth, saliva and rage, simply put, dangerous as he should be.

About the technique, his use of markers is quite amazing as you can see. Maybe not as polished as other artists using those but it makes up in rough spontaneity.
