DescriptionThis is my grail. I knew I wanted it before I realized owning original art was a thing.Powerful. Haunting. Heartbreaking. This image is all of those things and more. It left an indelible impression on me the moment I saw it, and I am beyond fortunate that I was able to make it the first serious art purchase I made way back in 2001. While many collectors look for great action pages or the hero in costume, I've always been drawn to these quieter, more emotional moments from the stories I love. And, IMHO, they don't get more emotional than this. Social/Sharing |

Dramatic moment. Ilustrated like on a theatre stage. Impressive.

I've never read this comic, and come to this piece as a stand-alone piece of art. It's beautiful and devestating. I agree with you, the quiet emotional moments are usually the most powerful and arresting, at least once you're past adolescence. The problem is that so few comic book artists can really pull this off. Tim Sale is definitely missed.
