At Rose City Comic Con 2014, my brother and I were just wandering around and found Erik Larsen at a basically unmarked out of the way table.

I said something "clever" like: "Why are you stuck here. Don't they know who you are?" He said something like, "Right." and I said, "You are the creator of the best Kirby page on Facebook." We laughed. For those that don't know, Erik is a lot more than a FB page owner. Click the link above.

Anyway, I asked if he was drawing and he said he was as I thumbed through a pile of OA. I said, "How about this guy?" and pointed at Savage Dragon. Erik said he thought he could do that and, so, the deal was struck. I could pick it up on Sunday.

It was an impulse buy, but I'm happy I got it. I've always admired his art - clearly Kirby influenced, but all his own. Look at the size of the left (foreground) fist! There's power in that figure.

Though it is difficult to see in the scan, the pencil underlay is still on the page. In person, it makes the image a little distracting, but it's fascinating to see how he roughed in the figure. No way can I bring myself to erase them.
