Description

Greg Rucha and Matthew Clark had about a year (625-638) together on the Adventures of Superman (1987), the continuation of the original Superman series after the Crisis on Infinite Earths. The name change was required because John Byrne was given a new Superman #1 in the revamp.

Anyway, this run was a lot of fun. It featured a new villain, Ruin, a new Parasite (twins actually), a cameo by Clark and Lois' daughter, Mxyzptlk truly trying to help Superman, a replacement for Maggie Sawyer as head of the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit, and a lot more. It was fun.

I saw this piece at the Hero Initiative auction at the Baltimore Comic Con and I really liked it. Better yet, the bidding was slow. I bid $500 and someone offered $600. The auctioneers thought I'd done that, but nope as those around me attested. The $600 bidder didn't speak up so I got it!

Matthew once wrote this about the piece, "I did this piece as a retrospective of my time on Adventures of Superman with my friend Greg Rucka."

Very cool to see the photo with the art! You'd have to think he takes a little bit of pride in the auction result with that smile.
