Description

Before this one was received, I got a recreation of Sea Devils 6 from Kathy for Christmas. I didn't realize that she'd gotten me that cover when I ordered this one. Glad we made different choices! :)

I went with a gray wash since most of my art is pencil or pen and ink and I thought it would fit better. However, after seeing Russ's painting on the other piece, I kind of wish I'd gone with color.

Never the less, it's a wonderful example of Russ's work and I'm glad to have it.

BTW, did you ever notice the similarity with Aquaman #9? Russ' Sea Devils pre-dates it by 3 years or so and there are many differences (Sea Horse with wings in Aquaman, for example.), but I have to wonder if Nick ever saw Russ' cover.

Russ Heath is one of those comic living legends who slips under the radar. Even I was surprised after seeing this that he is still active and doing commissions - great work at that! Congrats on this magnificent piece!
