Description

The amazing results of my winning bid for the ACTOR lunch and a sketch with Dave Sim benefit auction! But as beautiful as this sketch is, I have to say the true prize was having lunch during the Big Apple's National show with an icon such as Mr. Sim. Just a great guy; a real pleasure to talk to. My 4-year-old daughter was with me that weekend in NYC, and the day after the lunch she kept asking when we were going to see "Dave" again!

OK, so technically it's not in the big sketchbook, but this is the best gallery room for it right now, and Dave did send along color photocopies for me to place in BOTH my Marvel Family sketchbooks! He did the piece at home after the convention so that he could really take his time to produce something nice. And he definitely did!

Dave also included a photocopy of a picture of Rita Hayworth from 1941 that he used as his "jumping off point" and the original pencil tracing paper drawing. He even sent along a copy of the reference which he used for the "Mary Marvel" logo. Thanks again, Dave! November 2005.

I have a fond place in my heart for the Marvels and I think Sim really captures an aspect as to why that place is there.
