How do you get a Matt Wagner painting of your character cheap?
First draw an obscure (yet well written) comic book. Then have DC pay Matt to paint the covers.
Wait ten or so years, until no one remembers your character, then buy the painting on Ebay for a paltry sum.

Obscure? I loved Griffin. I thought I was lucky when I bought an interior page off Mick Gray. If another one pops up on ebay, you might have competition for it! Thanks for creating Griffin Norm!
