Description

Gilbert Hernandez brought a number of really nice large-sized pre-drawn illustrations with him to the signing at Midtown Comics yesterday. I was looking through them, all the while cursing the fact I had been laid off last year and was now at a temp job that paid rather poorly. I really wasn't going to purchase anything. And then I came across this beauty, an illustration of Luba in the streets of Palomar, hair blowing in the wind. As soon as I saw it, I knew if I didn't get it, I'd probably spend the next six months mentally kicking myself in the @$$ for being an idiot. Besides, I've wanted to get a Beto page from Love and Rockets for a while, but the prices on those get pretty steep. So this was probably the best chance I'd have to acquire a finished piece by Gilbert. Anyway, I paid him for this, and got it personalized on the bottom, because it's definitely a keeper. There goes my original art budget for the next several months, but it was definitely worth it. I'm going to get this one framed as soon as possible.

You picked a good one Ben. In addition to a great image of Luba, I really like the way he drew the building and street scene. It adds a lot to the piece.
