DescriptionThis is a fun item. Billy DeBeck made a check out for twenty cents to Rose Pelswick, a well-known movie critic for the New York Journal-American. Maybe they knew each other because of the Hearst connection. DeBeck adorned the check with a small color drawing of Barney Google, with Barney stating, "If she cashes this, I'm sunk". From 1931. So great that 20 cent checks actaully meant something in their time. He added color to the sketch which makes it even better.
