DescriptionBack at SDCC 2007, I met Simone Bianchi and got a watercolor of Batman from him as well as his Detective Comics #828 from his rep, Sal Abbinanti. I e-mailed Simone afterwards about commissioning him to do the other six members of the JLA in induvidual watercolor paintings like my Batman. He then asked for my phone number and called me from his home in Italy. We talked for a while and he told me that he doesn't do commissions after the con season has ended so he can concentrate on his other work for Marvel and DC.Then he proceeded to tell me of something he was hired by DC Licensing to do the may be of interest to me involving the JLA and other DC characters. He then sent me JPEGs' of the original art and the colored version. I was blown away. Simone, Sal and I then worked it out so that I could get this big piece. The image itself is 25.25" by 17.5". So two weeks ago it arrived and I've been busting at the seams to show it but I promised not to until Simone gave me the "ok" to after he got the "ok" from DC. Simone was not sure what the final use of the art will be for but it turned out to be used for Upper Deck Entertainment DC VS System Trading Card game. Sal Abbinanti posted an early version this in his gallery at CAF. There has been changes done to Supermans' face since that early version. The original face was painted in too dark and Simone painted over it more to his satisfaction. He told me that it's not a patch, he actually re-painted Supes' face. Simone is a great guy and a fantastic artist and I can't thank him enough for offering this to me. We've spoken on the phone a few times over this and he's a helluva guy.
