Matt Baker: Classics Illustrated #32 "Lorna Doone" (Gilberton, 1946). R. D. Blackmore's historical tale of love, murder, and revenge, Lorna Doone, is brought to life by the brilliant Matt Baker. This is page 8 from Gilberton's 1946 adaptation of this classic romance story. Image area measuring 12.5" x 18". Btw, the girl on the page is NOT Lorna Doone.

Matt was really a great artist, I like him since the first time I saw one of his pic. taken from FLAMINGO. I love all his Jungle.girls, Phantom lLady and Romantic episodes. Few weeks ago an american friend committed to me a recreation of one of his famous covers from the 50's, asking to me to put the PHANTOM instead the man on the cover (in my Ph-gallery). Congrats.
