Description

GRAIL PIECE. This is an animation drawing of Homer Simpson by The Simpsons supervising director David Silverman. It's done in india ink on 9 x 12 inch heavy art paper, and is signed and dated. This drawing is a recreation of a signature scene from the third season of The Simpsons in 1991. The episode is "Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk," and this is from the famous 'Homer in The Land of Chocolate' sequence.

'Homer in the Land of Chocolate' is a sequence that David Silverman reboarded himself, to show Homer as 'deliriously happy'. Per The San Diego Union Tribune, Silverman said "I animated that scene frame by frame, I needed to draw the skip I wanted. Homer's skipping sets the tone for that show".

David Silverman is best known as a long-time supervising director on The Simpsons Television series, and as the director of the 2007 The Simpsons Movie. He was also co-director of Monsters, Inc. at Pixar and The Road to El Dorado at DreamWorks, and has been a story and animation consultant on many projects.

This piece was done specifically for Pres-Aid, a charity art auction to benefit Disney and DreamWorks animator Pres Romanillos.
