I've John's Hawkman ever since I first saw him appear in JB's Action run many years ago. This piece makes for a nice comparison to the published Hawkman pages I have in my published gallery section.

John Byrne took some Kubert pills when he sat down to draw this one! That's the highest compliment I can give a Hawkman artist.

I'd like to see Byrne doing a lot of characters but one of my dream books for him would be Hawkman -- he captures (as he does with so many characters) him so well. Too bad DC didn't let John do a Golden Age Justice Society book... he would have been perfect. The stuff he did with them in Wonder Woman was just fabulous.

Sadly, I think this is one of the weaker Byrne pieces I think you own. It's not bad, but his attempts to inject Kubert don't really seem to work for me.
