DescriptionFrom the First Comics run. Loved this book when it came out. At the time, I thought it was groundbreaking, and a little risque. And, that made it all the more exciting to me.Chaykin at his best. Social/Sharing |

Got to see this one in person, she's a beaut!
Action packed DPS from one of the greatest indie books of the '80s! Well done!

Great pickup! One of the few things that I had my eyes on in last auction. I'll take these two pages over most covers. Glad you got both to keep together. Chaykin's baby all the way, but art wouldn't be the same without Ken Bruzenak's contributions. Congrats!

I would take this over most of the AF covers I have seen out there. What great composition.

Great sequence! As good as the book is, there aren't lots of solid pages out there. And this one looks like there isn't too much faded marker.

You crack me up GianCarlo, you left the same comment for me on my Chaykin Video Rangers pin-up 6 years ago and I tried to explain to you then that it's not faded marker but the intended use of the duo-shade board. Do yourself a favor and look it up.

Chaykin uses (used) marker quite a bit. It fades into an ugly bluish tinge.
I'm not talking about zip-a-tone, which I love (unitl it falls off...)

GianCarlo, have you held an original Chaykin Flagg page in your hands and really looked at it? If you had, then you'd know the "bluish tinge" you see is not markers bleeding but is actually part of the pattern of the due-shade board. It is in non repro blue so when pages where shot/filmed for reproduction it wouldn't show up on the printed page. However, modern scanners do pick it up in great detail and if you click on Ron's scan to enlarge it, you'll see what I'm talking about.
Also, there is no zip-a-tone on this board, the effect is all achieved by using the activator chemical on the duo-shade board. Zip-a-tone is a bunch of tiny dots on a clear sheet of "film" that gets applied on top of the artwork to give it a similar effect of the duo-shade but through a completely different process.
As I said before, go read, do a little research, know what you're talking about.

BTW Ron, great DPS. I'm glad the 2 pages have been reunited. Flagg was a groundbreaking comic and one of the best indie books of the '80's. Congrats on scoring it.
